Hosted by Ladies Wine & Design, an organisation founded by Jessica Walsh, the exhibition aims to uncover the women behind much of the graphic design that has impacted on the world, where historically they've gone without a name or a face to their work.
HeldĀ at the Tate Liverpool, the exhibition brings awareness to the gender inequality that still exists in an industry that although has a half female workforce, sees most of its senior roles still occupied by men.
For the brief both a promotional poster and interpretation leaflet were designed.
The leaflet features a short essay on the historical representation (or lack thereof) of women in graphic design, as well as information on some featured designers in the industry.
The visual language across the project represents how women often get lost within the designs they make, rather than being featured and praised in the same way many male designers are.
Final page layouts of the leaflet, which gradually unfolds out to finally reveal the female designers at the centre of the document.
A selection of alternative design concepts for the poster.
