With a white dominated medical history and lack of accessibility to healthcare, there is little knowledge or awareness of the signs and symptoms of skin cancer on black skin.
Powerful advertising along with an informative website helps bring the issue into the light.
Digital posters that react to light levels further this by revealing the disparity between white and black survivors of skin cancer, both in the message and in the reveal using skin tones. The shift in tone creates a call to action - both from privileged white communities and from black communities themselves.
An interactive website allows people to understand the issue using accessible and friendly visuals and a simple design; no lengthy medical jargon needed. This lowers the barrier to accessing medical information, advice, and support for what can be a complex and daunting issue.
Information leaflets can still be very effective when concise information and good design are combined. These folded leaflets are inserted into sleeves which feature one of the most common symptoms of skin cancer in POC; moles on the hands and feet.
The information inside uses the same friendly illustration style as the website, tying the campaign together in a visual language that serves as the branding.
