The colours and shapes in the app are designed to be calm and flowing, not overloading the user with visual information in order to make decluttering less stressful.
The app is inspired by lifestyles championed by modern women, who incorporate aspects of mindfulness and 'Zen' into their everyday lives. Similar to the KonMari method, promoted by Japanese organising consultant Marie Condo, the app utilises a calm and methodical approach to decluttering, along with a reward system.
For this project, the theoretical device called 'Metalens' is used in the process. Prototypes of 'smart lenses' have been in development, and if they were to become widely available this could be a potential use. The Zenify app utilises their ability to record small changes that occur when viewing an object that relate to how the user is emotionally responding to it. This could aid users in making a clearer decision when deciding on which items they no longer need in their lives.
